RC2 C.V. is a 50:50 joint venture between Port of Rotterdam (HbR) and ARG mbH & Co. KG. Port of Rotterdam (PoR) is manager and developer of the port and industrial complex of Rotterdam. PoR is owned by the Municipality of Rotterdam. ARG is manager of a 495 km common carrier pipeline system for transport of ethylene in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. ARG is owned by the chemical companies BASF, Bayer, BPRP, Westgas(Degussa), SABIC and Sasol.
"Pipeline Route”:
The total distance of the RC2 common carrier is 117 km between Rotterdam and Antwerp. The pipeline is partly owned, partly leased by RC2. RC2 owns a 10-inch pipeline, built in 2002, between Maasvlakte, Europoort and Botlek in the port and industrial area of Rotterdam. In the Botlek area, this pipeline is connected to a pipeline of Shell. RC2 leases transport capacity in this pipeline, which runs from Botlek via Pernis and Moerdijk to Antwerp. The owned and leased transport capacities are commercially operated by RC2.
"Common Carrier”:
RC2 commercially operates a common carrier pipeline system for transporting ethylene between Antwerp and Rotterdam – the two largest port and industrial complexes in Europe. "Common carrier" means that, depending on available pipeline capacity, any consumer, producer or third party can contract ethylene transport with RC2 subject to a standard product specification, general pipeline transport conditions and a public tariff system.
